Tigerhacks is Mizzou’s annual hackathon occurring on November 8-10, 2019. Tigerhacks is a free event where participants spend 36 hours working in small teams to build, code, and design projects that they’re excited about. There are workshops, mentors, food, and swag given out throughout the weekend and did we mention, it is all free. Bring your ideas, and we give you everything you need to make them come to life. All majors & experience levels welcome.

Below is the breakdown of how you'll be scored during your demo!

 

Complexity - 10pts

More complexity involves technical difficulty and how challenging your project was to create.

For example, image recognition and classification would likely score higher here than a simple web page displaying images of art.

 

Impact - 10pts

Real-world usability will get you more points in this section!

 

Originality - 10pts

A unique hack that's offers something new and exciting will help you in this section.

 

Polish - 10pts

Make sure your hack is professional and well put together.

 

Relation to Theme - 10pts

Build an automation hack using UiPath! Each winning team member will receive a UiPath/MLH Branded Backpack and an opportunity to interview for a UiPath Internship in 2020 with high recommendation!

Best Domain Registered with Domain.com (2)

Register a domain using Domain.com during the weekend. Each team may submit one entry per person on the team. Each winning team member will receive a Domain.com branded backpack.

Best Use of Google Cloud

Build your hackathon project with a suite of secure storage, powerful compute, and integrated data analytics products provided by Google Cloud. See full list of products here: g.co/cloud. Each winning team member will receive a Google Home Mini.

Best use of Blockstack (2)

Create an app using the Blockstack Platform. Each winning team member will receive a pair of Apple BeatsX Earphones. The opportunity with Blockstack doesn't end with the event. Any app built with Blockstack during a hackathon that successfully registers for the App Mining program will receive an additional $200 reward.

Best use of Twilio

Create a hack using Twilio's powerful communications API. Do things like send SMS messages, phone calls, email, and much more in your project. The team that has the best use of Twilio will win a $50 Amazon gift card per team member.

Best Nutritional Hack

The winners will receive exclusive Panera swag & $100 gift card and win a paid summer 2020 internship with us (in the St. Louis HQ)!

  • Developer Category
    This category is perfect for experienced programmers who may have already attended hackathons before.
  • Begineer Category
    Don’t have much experience yet? The beginner category is for you!
  • Startup
    This category is for the business-oriented. Be sure and emphasize how your hack can be made into a product/service!
  • Visual
    Visual projects can involve strong design of the project or be for creating visuals like drawings or paintings. Would work: Hack with great design, tech for creating drawings, image recognition Wouldn't work: Hand-drawn pictures, presentations, models
  • Audio
    We're looking for projects that involve music, speech, and sound! Would work: Projects involving tech and music, speech recognition, audio player Wouldn't work: Written song, live music
  • Hardware
    Use MLH’s hardware lab to help create a project for this category! Would work: Using LEDs to create animated artwork, robot that doodles Wouldn't work: Basic light display
